Physical Therapy for New and Expecting Moms

How Can Physical Therapy Help You?

Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy

Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy is a specialized form of Physical Therapy that focuses on the muscles, ligaments, and connective tissues of the pelvic floor.

The Muscles of the Pelvic floor play a critical role in:

  • Bladder and bowel control

  • Sexual function

  • Core stability

  • Providing support during pregnancy, and often require a lot of help in postpartum recovery

“What I find is most misunderstood about the Pelvic Floor is how its function contributes to the working body as a whole. If you are walking, standing, reaching, and/or carrying anything especially on one side (LIKE YOUR CHILD) your pelvic floor is at work coordinating your movements and stabilizing you. So sometimes low back pain, hip pain and difficulty with balance, walking and carrying objects can be a result of a weak and/or uncoordinated pelvic floor.”

Prenatal Physical Therapy

Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy is a specialized form of Physical Therapy that focuses on the muscles, ligaments, and connective tissues of the pelvic floor.

Your Therapist will use manual techniques, therapeutic exercise and neuromuscular education to help:

  • Manage Pain

  • Improve Mobility

  • Give Back a Sense of Control

  • Prepare your body for labor and delivery

  • Aid in recovery after birth

“I enjoy strengthening Moms-to-Be. I consider preparing for child birth like getting ready for the biggest Game Day of your life. You wouldn’t show up to the arena not knowing how to play, and you would definitely want to train and practice. My patients show up on delivery day educated, informed and physically ready not only to bring their baby into the world, but also to care for them after they are born. You have to be strong to be a mom.”

Postpartum Physical Therapy

Postpartum Physical Therapy is a specialized area of physical therapy focused on helping women recover physically after pregnancy and childbirth.

Physical Therapy and Strength Training can help with:

  • Pain Management

  • Improve and heal Diastases Recti

  • Rebuild Core and Pelvic Floor function.

  • Gain overall strength

  • Improve Posture and Respiration Mechanics

“ It’s an amazing era of technology we live in where we are able to utilize IVF in order to focus on our education and career. Now we just need bodies that can keep up with the demands of motherhood. Mom strong is a different kind of strength and there is no science or shortcuts  just the hard work you put into your body. There is also no blueprint laid out for the working mom who also wants a robust, durable and hot bod… This is where we take off.”

A Little About Me

Whether you are just starting to think about having a child, are currently pregnant, just had your baby, and or have pelvic floor dysfunction. I am a Certified Advanced Pelvic Floor PT through the American Physical Therapy Association and can assist you with all the issues down there that may or may not be related to pregnancy.

On top of running my own business I am also a Mom and understand the value of time. I want to thank you for taking the time to seek care for yourself. I hope to take the guesswork out of your issues and efficiently get you where you want to be.

At the ripe age of 36 my pregnancy like most working moms these days was labeled as a “geriatric pregnancy” but through my own research, training, preparation and help from the powers that be…I had an unmedicated vaginal delivery with zero interventions and no tearing. I only say this because it is possible.

After delivery I was able to breastfeed for a year while suffering from the greatest sleep deprivation known to woman kind.

Currently when I’m not working you will probably find me running, jumping and scrambling after my little monster, and although I have never been more exhausted in my life I am grateful to have the strength, stability, and stamina to do so.

I am excited to help you feel the same way!
